Working With You in the Pandemic

25.06.20

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of all our lives, especially the way we work. We are likely to see this continue for some time. We have been thinking about how we adapt to this, especially how we work with our clients to ensure they receive the same level of service from our practice. As a team that focuses on a collaborative design process, working hand-in-hand with our clients, this is particularly important for us.

Some of our clients are located here on the island and across Scotland. However we have many clients not just in the rest of the UK, but all over the world. Living and working on the Isle of Skye we have become very used to working remotely.

Good communication is key to this process working successfully. Aside from telephone calls and emails, we use video-conferencing facilities (Zoom, MS Teams, Skype or Google Hangouts) to keep our clients involved in the design process. The sharing of ideas through design workshops is key to our approach and this is something that we are happy to undertake on-line. A regular planned on-line meeting is a good idea as we try to dovetail diaries with our clients increasingly busy on-line diaries.

The issue of reports at key stages of the design process allows us to ensure the brief is documented and that clients can take their time to consider and question the proposals, staying in control of the design process. Each report can be presented via video-conferencing, allowing us the opportunity to explain the design development and respond to your queries. If necessary we can arrange for material samples by post, which along with precedent images and visualisations of the project will assist clients in product selection.

Projects are assigned a project architect who, wherever possible, will oversee the design process from beginning to end ensuring clients have a single point of contact with a continuous knowledge of the development of the design.

Most of our team is still busy working from home but as restrictions begin to be lifted we can make site visits and commence new projects. Please get in touch via [email protected] or our usual studio number (01478 613379) if you have any questions about taking forward your project at this time.
